DEQ TableTop Training

To help achieve the goal of protecting the water and wastewater systems, Tabletop Exercises (TTXs) are beneficial in updating and maintaining appropriate responsiveness to the public utility in the event of a malevolent act. TTXs and Train-the-Trainer (TTT) conferences will provide information and experience that the community and non-community water and wastewater systems can use in continuing the TTX process on an   annual basis.

Patriot Services Corporation will be conducting a 1 day, 8 hour course ,Train the Trainer session on ?how to conduct a tabletop exercise? for local water and wastewater system employees throughout the state of Michigan on various days.

     

Upon completion of this training, water and wastewater system employees will have the tools, technologies and confidence to conduct security exercises. Also, Continuing Education Credits (CECs) will be awarded for satisfactory attendance upon approval by the Operator Training and Certification Unit.

Frontline Responder

The Frontline Responder training course is a 2-day training course providing an overview of terrorism awareness; facilitated seminars in defining the threat, identifying the potential targets of the terrorist, terrorist options in delivering an attack, and the Homeland Security role of the security professional. The course provides seminars in chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive agents that may be used as weapons of mass destruction (WMDs), improvised explosive device (IED) recognition, and indicators of suspicious activity. The seminars are as follows: The distinguishing characteristics of emergency preparedness exercises

  • Terrorism Awareness - The definition of terrorism, categories and types of terrorism, targets, types of threats, and the DHS threat advisory system
  • Homeland Security Role - The DHS mission statement and strategies developed for domestic and national preparedness. 
  • Weapons of Mass Destruction - The properties, effects, and methods for delivery/dispersal of potential CBRNE agents. Personal protection principles for radiological and explosive incidents.
  • Improvised Explosive Devices - The basic design of IEDs including vehicle-borne IED's, and suicide bombers.
  • Terrorist Planning Cycle and Suspicious Person Indicators - The terrorist operational planning cycle and suspicious person indicators.
  • Suspicious Items Indicators and Types of Threats - Common types of threats (bomb threat, found package, etc.) and practical ways to handle these threats.
  • Incident Scene Management - The strategic goals of incident management, as well as an overview of the unified Incident Command System.
  • Soft Target Assets and Vulnerabilities - An awareness of the physical structure, building grounds, occupant routines, and physical security systems in soft target properties.

IS-100: Introduction to Incident Command System

This course introduces the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training. This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System. It also explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

Depending upon the makeup of each IS-100 course, Patriot Services Corporation trainers will deliver IS-100.LE for Law Enforcement or IS-100.PW for Public Works Personnel.

Patriot Services Corporation will deliver IS-100 over one one-day, eight-hour training course.

IS-200: ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents

ICS 200 is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently during an incident or event within the Incident Command System (ICS). ICS-200 provides training on and resources for personnel who are likely to assume a supervisory position within the ICS.

The IS-100 course is a pre-requisite to the IS-200 course, which is designed to identify ICS features and principles, describing in more detail elements such as:

  • Establishment & Transfer of Command
  • Management by Objectives
  • Unified Command
  • ICS Management Functions
  • Organizational Flexibility
  • Unity and Chain of Command
  • Span of Control
  • Incident Action Plans
  • Resource Management

IS-700: National Incident Management System (NIMS), an Introduction
The NIMS provides a consistent nationwide template to enable all government, private-sector, and nongovernmental organizations to in concert during domestic incidents.  This course explains the purpose, principles, key components, and benefits of NIMS. It also contains "Planning Activity" screens giving you an opportunity to practice some planning tasks.

Patriot Services Corporation will deliver IS-700 in one half-day, four-hour training course.

IS-800: National Response Plan (NRP), an Introduction
The National Response Plan, or NRP, specifies how resources of the Federal Government will work in concert with state, local, and tribal governments, as well as the private sector to respond to Incidents of National Significance. The NRP is predicated on the National Incident Management System (NIMS). Together, NRP and NIMS provide a nationwide template for working together to prevent or respond to threats and incidents regardless of cause, size, or complexity. The IS-800 course is designed primarily for Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and other Federal department/agency personnel responsible for implementing the National Response Plan.  State, local and private sector emergency management professionals will also find great benefit by taking this distance learning course.
